Our story

Happiness Foundation was incorporated in Denmark by its founder Mickey Beyer-Clausen in 2002, where it quickly became successful amongst nonprofits and volunteers, and received extensive media coverage, funding from the Danish Government, and honorable participation at Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year.

When our founder moved from Denmark to New York, the Foundation moved with him, and in 2008, it was incorporated as a 501c3 private foundation. Just like in Denmark, the Foundation's innovative approach was quickly acknowledged in the United States — even the White House took notice and invited Happiness Foundation to participate in activities part of George W. Bush's Council on Service and Civic Participation.

Next chapter: Scaling what we do

Now, the time has come to do more - accept more pro bono consulting engagements with nonprofits and recruit more Volunteer Consultants to help the nonprofits scale. We want to change the format from a private foundation to a public 503c3 foundation. Next step is to find individuals and companies who feel as excited and inspired by our approach as we do, and wish to put their resources to good use.
